KIDS AROUND THE WORKPLACE &
UNIVERSITY SERIES
Kids Around the Workplace & Kids Around the University offers your students real information about the worlds of work and higher
education—starting in Kindergarten. These four children’s books and curriculum units are
designed to give kids in Kindergarten through 6th grade real information
about the world of work, to encourage them to ask their own questions, and
to begin to map their roads to wider opportunities in education, employment,
and life. Kids Around the Workplace uses the authentic voices of young
students to inform and inspire teachers and their classes to think outside
the classroom, and to master language skills and vocabulary as they learn
about the relationships between educational success and choices in jobs and
careers. These books are written by students and teachers for your classroom
and your kids—teachers just like you!The four student books in the Kids Around the Workplace
& University series are designed to accompany the curriculum guide. Written
by students, they answer students’ own questions about work, and share the
information they found in their personal investigations into workplaces. As
they put it:
| We wrote this book because there are books about work written by
adults, but we can't understand them and sometimes they're boring.
When adults write about work, they don't know what kids want to know.
We wanted to write about work from a kid's perspective. |
